A solar home is not just a roof equipped with solar panels, but an overall concept that covers the following aspects of construction:

- layout
- insulating building envelope
- dimensioning of the building and its interiors
- choice of materials
- efficiency of energy systems
- energy savings
- tracking of products
- relevance of choice of supplies
- budget.
